Saturday, September 12 @ 8:30am
Parish Service Day is Saturday, September 12th from 8:30am-1pm.
Church of the Resurrection is continuing with plans for our 5th annual Service Day on Saturday, September 12. With the COVID virus and need for social distancing, this year’s format will be a bit different than in the past. We have identified sites that will provide the opportunity to maintain social distancing while providing service to our Community. This year, Advent Lutheran Church will be joining us in the one-day event of service in which we can make a difference in the lives of those around us. The GOALS of this year’s Service Day are:
1. Join our Church Community together to celebrate our 50th Anniversary as we Build our Future and Celebrate our Past. As a show of unity, we ask that all Church of the Resurrection Volunteers wear the yellow 50th Anniversary T-shirt.
2. Meet others in the Community who share our values of giving back to others while maintaining a safe social distance. Masks will be required.
Last year we exceeded our goal of over 200 participants and while we understand that concern about COVID is still very much on our minds, we hope to get a large number of participants again this year. Our day of service will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the west parking lot of our Church with drive-by registration. We will serve the community from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. or upon the completion of the project. All are invited to gather again for 5:30 p.m. Mass. We, unfortunately, will not have donuts and coffee for breakfast or a dinner following the Mass due to the sanitary restrictions. We hope to have a celebration with our Parish Community, the Advent Lutheran Community and representatives from the organizations we have served sometime in the future.
We are all in this together and we hope that Service Day will be a step toward normalcy. Thank you all for your understanding and patience during the pandemic.
When registering your family, please select the number of family members participating in the drop down and list the names of participants and ages of the children in the comments section.
If you are interested in becoming a Team Leader, please indicate your interest on the sign up. We will train anyone interested in becoming a volunteer….. the only requirement is to commit to: 1. making calls to the service site and your team members and 2. being present at Church and your Service Site on the day of the event.
